How to find the Slope of a Line

slope
How to find the slope of a line. First you need to figure out if the slope is positive or negative. If the line goes up hill from left to right its negative. If the line is going down hill from left to right its negative, and in this picture the line is positive so it has a positive slope. So after you figure out if the slope is positive or negative then you need to find points on the line. You need to find two points that are exactly on the line. After you find two points on the line then you need to count how much it goes up and how much it goes across to get to the other point. In this picture it goes up 4, which is the Y axis , and it goes across 3. So the slope of this line is 4/3.

Now another way to find a slope of a line is to subtract the Y-Y and X-X. So the first dot is on -1,-2 and the second dot is on 2,2. The fist number is the X and the second number is the Y. So the Y number goes on top so I like to subtract the Y numbers first, so -2-2=-4 so the top number of the slope is -4. Then I subtract the X numbers together, -1-2=-3. So the bottom number o my slope is -3. If both the numbers are negative you change it to a positive. So the slope of this line is 4/3. So that’s how you find a slope of a line.
